  Transfer from airport to Maqueda Lodge was fantastic.Upon arrival we were welcomed to the Lodge , given a brief description of what we were going to experience , shown to... read more our rooms and then we were off on our first safari. The vehicles we were well equipped and our seating was comfortable.
Although we were all a little tired from our air travel , the excitement of our first safari overcame any tiredness...and we were not disappointed. We were able to see all of the big 5 apart from the ever elusive leopard. The guides were incredible and a credit .
Their information and enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment of their jobs were reflected in their excitement in relaying stories of their experiences.
The Lodge itself was a delight. The rooms were large and their beds were were welcomed at the end of the day.
Meals were a great experience and the diversity of meals was fantastic and nourishing. The conversations at meal times with other travellers were always enthusiastic as we all relayed our daily experiences.
The girls at dinner time , with their singing and invitations were incredible...well done!!!.
No TV ......absolutely fantastic!!!!!!
All of the guides and helpers did an incredible job ....all with cheeky senses of humour.(Giraffe milk tarts.....)

  The four of us, my husband and parents, were so lucky - we were the only guests at Maqueda Lodge for three days. So we got to enjoy all the... read more attention of Michael and James and their fantastic cooking. The whole lodge is beautifully designed, especially the covered sitting and dining area, but the big difference from other beautiful accommodation was the people. On top, James and Michael provided us with all kinds of information, e.g. about the little five of Africa, and fetched a rhinoceros beetle from the garden as concrete visual material. I gave a slight lower grade for sleep only because it was hot and humid and hard to sleep when the power was load shedding and we couldn't have fan on.
