Exceptional place to stay when visiting Kruger
We had a great four days at Maqueda Lodge. The level of service was fantastic, food was great. Michael who leads the Safari tours does a great job, works overtime to try and find the different animals you want to see. While a long day, would highly recommend doing an all day Safari.

Excellent accommodation and game drives
We stayed for two nights and had two game drives into Kruger. The Facilities were excellent as were the meals provided. Micheal was our guide on the game drives who was excellent with his knowledge on animals within the park. Would definitely recommend a stay there if visiting Kruger NP

Amazing hospitality
We had the most wonderful stay at Maqueda Lodge. From the moment we arrived until our departure, the personal service was exceptional and truly heartfelt. The team went above and beyond to make our friend’s birthday incredibly special — every detail was thoughtfully arranged and made the celebration unforgettable. A special thank you to Lizelle van der Nest, Tenash and Shaun for your warmth, care, and attention throughout our stay. And to all the staff working behind the scenes — your efforts did not go unnoticed. We felt genuinely welcomed and spoiled. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a personal, memorable experience!

1000% Recommendation!! Best Kruger experience you can get!
Best Kruger experience you can get. James and the team are doing a phenomenal job providing the best service possible to their guests. We have enjoyed two days including a fantastic afternoon safari and a 12 (!) hour safari the other day with just another couple on board. The level of personality and engagement during the tours was fantastic! The three course dinner at the lodge is sooo good and you just feel like you have been to paradise. I can just recommend the Maqueda lodge to anyone who wants a truly unique experience at Kruger Park.

Fantastic experience
We had a fantastic 4 night stay at Maqueda. The lodge is run so well and is a beautiful relaxed space. The staff are incredibly attentive and polite. Special mention to our safari guide Michael who is so passionate and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of nature and wildlife. We did 3 split days of Safari which was incredible - we saw everything (except a leopard!) Would highly recommend.

3 Outstanding Young Men
This Lodge was our 1st experience and stay in South Africa… it didn’t disappoint. The Lodge was lovely, meals terrific, all staff were very nice BUT there were absolutely 3 standouts being Michael our Safari Guide and driver and Sean and Taneash both staff within the Lodge who along with other staff provided breakfast, dinner and everything in between when we were at the Lodge. Michael is a true champion within this business, always courteous, went above and beyond to try to find the Big 5 for us never giving up and had a true love and respect for the animals and the park surroundings. Sean and Taneash offered a level of service above and beyond. The only negative for me and the friend I traveled with was the attitude of the Manager James who stood at the end of the dinner table we occupied with a German Family and lectured them for half an hour about being vegetarian and the downside of not eating meat. Very uncomfortable for all of us definitely didn’t need this for half an hour at the dinner table. Maybe keep your personal opinions to yourself. Overall a lovely experience and stay we thank you.

Prachtige Lodge. Een echt Afrika gevoel
Prachtige Lodge midden in een natuurpark gelegen. De giraffen, impala’s en andere dieren lopen gewoon door de tuin. Eén heel hartelijke ontvangst, mooie grote kamers, goed ontbijt en diner. Zeer deskundige Safari verzorgd door Michael. Voor herhaling vatbaar

Maqueda Lodge is located of Kruger National Park. It is a long 2 hour busy drive from the airport. The location is interesting in the you will come across Zebras, Giraffes and Antelope on walks in the area. Hopefully lions stay put in the park. Four nights were spent there. The hot water system was a challenge to get right, often swinging between too hot and cold. Unfortunately we ran out of gas late one night and had to wait to the new gas bottles were connected the next day. We actually had a visit from 2 frogs who suddenly appeared in the bathroom. The room was not very clean, the floor was dirty and the towels were not rewashed when they were dirty. The pillows had no covers on them so stains from previous guests were evident. The staff were very helpful, the wifi was OK. The included dinners and breakfasts were very good. Overall the stay was excellent given the remoteness of the area the lodge is located in. The safari drives were great. We managed to spot the big 5 within 6 hours of travel.
