ABOUT THE FAMILY

Maqueda Lodge Kruger National Park opened its doors ten years ago. The lodge developed from a family winter residence into a fully fledged four-star lodge.

Maqueda means "Happy child”.

Recently, Maqueda Camp Mozambique became operational as we continuously strive to expand on our service offerings.

Our latest addition to the Group is Maqueda Guest Manor in Nelspruit. The manor offers upmarket accommodation for the discerning business and recreational traveler, who requires the luxuries of home that they are accustomed to. www.maqueda.info

Joyce and Etienne manage Maqueda Lodge Kruger National Park while Gerrit van der Nest Sr. heads our Mozambique Camps. Francois and Marica manage Maqueda Guest Manor in Nelspruit. Marica is also responsible for all the photos of the lodges. Weddings are arranged by Lizelle Strydom (v.d.Nest) and Van der Nest Attorneys do the legal work.

At any given weekend, you will find four generations of van der Nests at the lodge, from 1 to 90 years of age. Today, there are three children in the world whose second name "Maqueda" has originated from the lodge where their creation was inspired! [smile]
